Method Man

Clifford Smith, alias Method Man, est né le 1er avril 1971 à Hempsted (Long Island) à quelques encablures de New York. Il y fait la connaissance de RZA, GZA et Ol’ Dirty Bastard avec qui il forme au début des années 90 le Wu-Tang Clan.
Le crew sort son premier album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) en 1993. Un an plus tard, Method Man sort son premier album solo Tical qui atteind rapidement le statut de platine aux Etats-Unis grâce aux singles Bring the Pain et Release Yo’ Self.
Sa renommée grandit en 1995 lorsqu’il participe au single de Mary J. Blige I’ll Be There for You / You’re All I Need to Get By. En 1997, Method Man retrouve le Wu-Tang sur Wu-Tang Forever. L’année suivante, il signe en solo Tical 2000: Judgement Day.
Parallèlement, il se consacre à une carrière cinématographique (Belly). En 1999, il sort en duo avec son compère Redman l’album Blackout!. L’année suivante, le Wu-Tang Clan se réunit et enregistre l’album The W.. En 2001, Method Man participe avec Redman au film How High parallèlement à la sortie de Iron Flag du Wu-Tang Clan. En 2004, le rappeur sort son troisième album solo Tical 0: The Prequel. Deux ans plus tard, paraît 4:21… The Day After.
